Macallan Scotch Alum Launches Line of Infused Whiskeys for the ‘Bourbon Curious’

In June, Five Springs Infused Bourbon announced its debut with a core line of three “naturally infused” bourbons. Lisa Sawyer Derman founded the bourbon brand and possesses 30 years of experience in the spirits industry with executive positions at storied brands like The Macallan and Stoli.
“We wanted to create a premium bourbon that would appeal to whiskey connoisseurs but also be inviting to first time bourbon drinkers who are bourbon curious,” Derman said in a news release. “Five Springs Infused Bourbon honors the old — we use premium bourbon whiskey aged in oak barrels blended and bottled in Bardstown, Kentucky, but also embraces the new — infusing and finishing the bourbon with complementary natural flavors.”
The core line features three infused bourbons: Honey Sage, Vanilla Maple and Blood Orange. The bourbons each possess 35% ABV and host a suggested retail price of $34.99. Interested parties can find them at ReserveBar. Five Springs Bourbon is available in New Jersey and Kentucky.
Derman says her interest in bourbon dates back to her childhood. She grew up in Kentucky, and for her, bourbon “symbolized bringing people together.”
According to a news release, her interest in the infused bourbon category began to grow when her millennial children started paying attention to bourbon — yet weren’t too enthused by more “traditional” brands.
The brand results from Derman experimenting in her kitchen for about a year with natural fruits and botanicals. According to the release, Derman took “real, premium bourbon” and infused it with ingredients like locally sourced honey. Five Springs shares that the infused bourbons are cocktail-friendly and can be enjoyed neat or tinkered with by seasoned mixologists.
