When it comes to awards in the spirits world, no competition carries as much weight as the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Earning a medal at this event is more than just bragging rights — it’s a sign of excellence recognized across the industry. That’s especially true for the coveted Double Gold medal, a title that only the best bottles achieve.

The 2025 SFWSC results are in, and we’ve compiled every whiskey that earned a Double Gold medal so you can stay up to date on the year’s standout sippers.

Why Is the San Francisco World Spirits Competition So Respected?

Let’s be honest — there’s no shortage of medal-slinging competitions out there. But when it comes to credibility, the SFWSC is in a league of its own. At Bottle Raiders, we focus on honesty, consistency and transparency in reviews — and that includes knowing which awards matter.

Founded in 2000, the SFWSC has built a reputation for rigorous judging by an expert panel of spirits professionals. Each product is tasted blind, with no brand identifiers influencing the outcome. That makes a medal from this competition a true indicator of quality, not just marketing flair.

What Does ‘Double Gold’ Mean?

SFWSC medals come in tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Double Gold. A Gold medal signifies a product that is “exceptional and near the pinnacle of achievement.” Double Gold is even harder to earn — it’s awarded only when every judge on the panel independently gives a product a Gold rating. In other words, it’s unanimous praise from seasoned experts.

Only Platinum ranks higher, and it’s reserved for products that receive a Double Gold three years in a row.
