It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year: Costco Looks to India, Sweden and Mexico for Global Whiskey Advent Calendar

Tasting Table reported on Monday that Costco has unveiled its Whiskey Advent Calendar, and the big box retailer is all about going global this year. This year’s advent calendar costs around $240 and features 5o-milliliter bottles of whisky from countries like Finland, Italy and more, making it a pretty solid gifting choice for anybody stuck at home this winter.

Though some of these international whiskies are more obscure brands, Costco does feature some heavy hitters like Green River bourbon from Kentucky and Kavalan from Taiwan. All in all, this year’s whisky advent calendar features offerings from 20 different countries.

Men’s Journal reported that the calendar is only available at Costcos in states that allow the retailer to sell alcohol, so residents of Texas, Wisconsin, and other states with prohibitive liquor laws won’t be able to buy it.

Costco has always proved itself to be a great place to find whiskeys from all over the world — and usually at affordable prices.

In March, Redditors delighted in the fact that bottles of Blanton’s Bourbon could be found at Costco for $56.89 in Burbank, California. Many shared that bottles of Blanton’s typically cost north of $100 in Kentucky. Some Redditors shared that bottles in Northridge — a city not too far away from Los Angeles — could be purchased for as low as $46.99, making it quite the steal.

A few months later in May, Redditors pointed out bottles of Nikka from the Barrel appearing at Costco.
