Actor Kiefer Sutherland Sets Sights Overseas and Brings ‘Authentically Canadian’ Red Bank Whisky to This Country

Spirits importer and distributor Mangrove U.K. announced it would be adding Red Bank Canadian Whisky, a brand co-founded by the Canadian actor, Kiefer Sutherland, to its portfolio for distribution in the United Kingdom.
“Red Bank is a product that champions and reinvigorates the longstanding history of the Canadian Whisky category,” Mangrove Global Managing Director Nick Gillet said in a statement. “Red Bank is an exceptional liquid that can rely on the outstanding talent of having Kiefer as one of its founders. His involvement at every stage of production, knowledge of the category, approachability, passion for the journey ahead, as well as being great fun, meant this was an easy decision for me to add to the portfolio.”
The spirits importer and distributor cites this latest move for the Canadian whisky brand as a potentially lucrative one, as the U.K. whisky market hosts a projected value of $1.3 billion by 2028.
The wholesale price of Red Bank Whisky through Mangrove U.K. is £49 ($61).
Sutherland, known for his roles in TV shows like “24” and “Designated Survivor,” was born in England and expressed his excitement to have Red Bank distributed in the country. The actor launched the 40% ABV Canadian whisky in May 2023.
The actor co-founded Red Bank with Gary Briggs, Shawn Hiscott and Rob Steel in 2022, and Sutherland claimed the whisky was meant to be a celebration of “warm East Coast hospitality.”
“The thing that I found so fascinating about Red Bank and this journey developing whisky is the incredible pride Canadians take in themselves and their country,” Sutherland explained. “I was born in England and I know the British people feel the same, but I grew up in Canada and one of the things that I’ve admired about Canada is its great diversity not just in its landscapes and culture, but its people as well. I am proud to have Red Bank represent all that is authentically Canadian and I am absolutely thrilled to bring it to the U.K. with the help of Mangrove Global.”
