Woodford Reserve announced on Tuesday the release of its Kentucky Derby commemorative bottling, with a suggested retail price of $55. This offering commemorates the 150th Anniversary of the Derby and features artwork from a Kentucky artist, Wylie Caudill.

Caudill is known for painting patterns, particularly of roses and this year’s bottling features a slew of brightly colored blooms framing a jockey riding a horse.

The artist grew up in Cynthiana, Kentucky, and spent a lot of time during his college years creating chalk murals. Caudill was hired to make the Official Art for the Kentucky Derby’s 150th Derby.

This makes Woodford’s release particularly significant, as it is the first time the bourbon brand has hired an artist used by Churchill Downs.

“As a Kentucky native, I am honored to be a part of this milestone celebration,” Caudill said in a statement. “I have painted my signature roses many times over the years, but this one is truly special. The colorful roses symbolize the diverse Derby fans from around the world, connecting people beyond the track.”

ReserveBar is offering a presale for those who want to snag a bottle.

The bourbon brand first released its annual Kentucky Derby offering in 1999, and the bottles have been collector’s items ever since, according to Woodford Reserve.

In February, Woodford Reserve announced a collaboration with two fashion designers, Sergio Hudson and Anifa Mvuemba, to design outfits in time for The Kentucky Derby. The designers, and their “muses” will be wearing them at the race.

“Wylie’s artwork embodies the spirit of Woodford Reserve, the liveliness of Churchill Downs during race day, and the heart of Kentucky,” Woodford Reserve Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall said. “We’re thrilled to have a Kentuckian’s artwork on our bottle during this monumental year.”
