The limited-edition bottle showcases a striking design by Cuban-born artist Humberto Lahera, whose painting, Carrera Dinamica — which translates to “dynamic race” — captures the thrill of the Kentucky Derby.

Woodford Reserve, the presenting sponsor of the Kentucky Derby, has been producing its annual commemorative Derby bottle since 1999, and the flashy bottle is a distinctive, sought-after collector’s item each year. The 1-liter bottle retails for $49.99.

A Fusion of Art and Racing Tradition

Lahera, who now resides in Louisville, Kentucky, is known for his photorealistic paintings.

“Humberto’s ability to blend rich colors and movement perfectly captures the excitement and tradition of the Kentucky Derby,” Woodford Reserve Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall said in a news release. “As a Cuban-born artist now calling Kentucky home, his work brings a unique perspective to this celebrated moment.”

Lahera’s artistic journey began in Holguín, Cuba, where he was one of just eight students accepted into the El Alba Academy of Fine Arts. After graduating Cum Laude, he later became a professor and established his own business, Lahera, specializing in antiques restoration and interior design. Since moving to the U.S. in 2022, Lahera has earned recognition in Kentucky’s art scene.

“Being selected as the artist for this year’s Derby bottle is an incredible honor,” Lahera said. “My work is deeply influenced by my Cuban heritage and my journey as an artist in Kentucky. For this design, I wanted to capture the exhilarating motion of the race and the elegance of the horses.”
