TX Whiskey Says Its New Double Oaked Bourbon Smells Like a Texas Barbecue

TX Whiskey

On Wednesday, TX Whiskey announced the seventh release in its TX Experimental Series: TX Straight Bourbon Whiskey Double Oak.

Double-oaked whiskeys are those that are moved to a fresh oak barrel after their initial maturation period in a separate oak cask.

“The double barreling process of this experimental product allows the spirit to express an aroma reminiscent of a Texas barbecue,” TX Whiskey Head Distiller Evan Brewer said in a news release. “The smokey and grilled flavors that hit your nose pair exceptionally well with the fall, fruity flavors that carry through the palate, making this expression the one to reach for during these cooler months.”

The second oak barrel was charred and smoked, according to the brand.

TX Whiskey will celebrate the release with an event at the brand’s home, Whiskey Ranch, Dec. 2, in Fort Worth, Texas. VIP entry will start at noon and general admission at 1 p.m. VIP attendees will be able to “Meet the Maker” with a tasting and bottle signing, plus a VIP tour, exclusive gift and early access to buy the new whiskey.

Only 1,300 375-milliliter bottles of TX Straight Bourbon Whiskey Double Oak will be available at TX Whiskey’s Whiskey Ranch for $39.99.

All attendees will have the chance to taste cocktails created with the new bourbon, and the event will feature live music, food trucks, a “casual tasting” of the new whiskey and a complimentary bottle engraving (when purchasing a bottle).

Tickets are priced at $50 for VIP and $10 for general admission. Each ticket grants the holder entry and one cocktail. Tickets can be purchased here.
