A Former NFL Quarterback Is Releasing a ‘TB-12’ Bourbon — But It’s Not Tom Brady

Former NFL quarterback Terry Bradshaw’s Bradshaw Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey announced on Thursday that it is expanding its lineup with two new cask strength single-barrel bourbons, one aged six years and the other 12. The new bottles will debut Feb. 2 at the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America Access Live convention in Las Vegas.
The releases mark the first cask strength offerings from the brand. The 12-year bourbon, known as TB-12-Year, references Bradshaw’s No. 12 jersey from his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers — this could be confusing, however, to the many football fans who know Tom Brady as TB12. Brady has “TB12” trademarked and uses the branding in the apparel, fitness equipment and health services spaces. Of course, Bradshaw is nearly two decades older than Brady and had those initials and number first. Fewer than 25 barrels of TB-12-Year were produced, making it the most limited release in the portfolio to date.
Both bourbons were distilled and aged by Green River Distilling Co. in Kentucky. The 12-year release, was bottled at Bluegrass Distillers in Kentucky and will be highly allocated.
“These new bourbons are about patience and pride,” Bradshaw said in a news release. “You cannot rush great bourbon. The 6-year brings bold energy and power, while the 12-year is rich, intense and layered from years in the barrel. These are the kinds of whiskeys I love to sip and share with people who truly appreciate what goes into making something special.”
The new releases join Bradshaw’s existing 5.5-year-old bourbon, which is bottled at 103.8 proof, a reference to Bradshaw’s career completion percentage. Across the range, the brand lists flavor notes that include vanilla, banana, leather and campfire, with a wood-forward finish.
Bradshaw Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is part of the Tag Reserve Spirits portfolio. Suggested retail pricing is $47.99 for the 5.5-year bourbon, $64.99 for the 6-year cask strength single barrel and $249.99 for the 12-year single barrel.
