Russell’s Reserve announced the release of its Single Rickhouse 2024 — Camp Nelson B on Wednesday. This year’s release clocks in at 120 proof and is the highest whiskey ever released from Russell’s Reserve.
This release is the third installment within the brand’s Single Rickhouse Collection, a line meant to explore “terroir,” according to the brand. It hosts a suggested retail price of $300 for each 750-milliliter bottle.
The Single Rickhouse Collection explores the effects of aging Russell’s whiskeys at different warehouses, like Camp Nelson C, Camp Nelson F and more. Camp Nelson B, a seven-floor rickhouse, was built in 1946 and sits on a higher elevation on the property and is close to the Kentucky River.
“The higher we went, the hotter it got, and the more oak we were getting on the whiskeys,” Wild Turkey Master Distiller Eddie Russell said in a news release. “For Camp Nelson B, we wanted to make sure we were really showcasing the rich, dark honey and char notes that we tend to get from that rickhouse, and we had a feeling that the bourbon we were looking for was sitting up there, enjoying the sun.”
This latest release follows 2023’s Single Rickhouse Camp Nelson F, which was the second offering to be released within the collection. The bourbon dropped in September 2023, and the brand shared that what made it special was that the rickhouse sat at a lower elevation.
Wild Turkey claimed that the wind currents from the Kentucky River allowed the barrels to breathe more than the other whiskeys in its stocks.
As for the 2024 release, the brand shared that it “exemplifies Eddie’s skill in barrel curation,” and Russell couldn’t be prouder of the whiskey.
“To me, this bottling of Single Rickhouse embodies the essence of Russell’s Reserve and I couldn’t be prouder of the final product – it’s truly one of our best,” Russell said.
