On Monday, Kentucky distillery Rabbit Hole Distillery announced the seventh release in its bi-annual Founder’s Collection.
Rabbit Hole Amburana is a 12-year-old Kentucky bourbon distilled from a mashbill of 78% corn, 12% malted barley and 10% rye and finished in new Brazilian oak barrels with a heavy toast and No. 4 char. The expression is bottled at 125.4 proof and sells for a suggested retail price of $1,100 per 750-milliliter bottle.
“I’ve always been drawn to vibrancy of Brazil and wanted to honor its creative culture with a magnificent, strongly charactered bourbon,” Rabbit Hole founder and Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame inductee Kaveh Zamanian said in a news release. “Inspired by the syncopated style of bossa nova, my goal was to bring together diverse and exotic flavors in perfect sensory harmony.”
Each release in the Founder’s Collection is bottled at cask strength and, according to Rabbit Hole, a testament to the brand’s “No Shortcuts. No Compromise. Nothing Left To Chance” mantra.
“Our Founder’s Collection is the perfect canvas for us to experiment and push the boundaries of American whiskey-making,” Zamanian said. “We’re especially proud of this latest release and can’t wait to share it with those who favor one-of-a-kind whiskeys.”
A limited release, only 2,176 bottled of Amburana are available for purchase at Rabbit Hole Distillery and in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Washinton, D.C., Delaware, Florida, Georgiia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
