On Tuesday, Chicken Cock Whiskey announced a high-proof bourbon released as part of a collaboration with PGA TOUR professional golfer Kevin Kisner. This is the first launch in the brand’s Reserve Cask Program for the year, and the expression hosts a suggested retail price of $150.

The Reserve Cask Program offers the opportunity for “like-minded partners” to choose a barrel from Chicken Cock Whiskey. Kisner’s release is the inaugural expression in the series roll-out.

For the first offering, Master Distiller Gregg Snyder carefully selected 22 of Chicken Cock Whiskey’s best 8-year-old bourbon barrels. Kisner tasted and chose his personal favorite from the selection, favoring a bourbon with a mashbill of 80% corn, 11.5% rye and 8.5% malted barley. The whiskey is bottled at 123.2 proof.

“I was immediately drawn to this specific barrel’s caramel finish and high proof,” Kisner said in a news release from Chicken Cock Whiskey. “Whether you’re a seasoned whiskey aficionado or just lookin’ for a good time, this whiskey’s got a place for you at the bar and on the course.”

Chicken Cock has a history that dates back to 1856 and is owned by Grain & Barrel Spirits. Chicken Cock Whiskey was served as the house whiskey at the Cotton Club in Harlem, which was one of Prohibition’s most lauded speakeasies, according to the brand.

Chicken Cock Whiskey nearly fell into obscurity after surviving Prohibition and World War II due to a distillery fire. In 2012, Grain & Barrel Spirits CEO Matti Anttila resurrected the brand.

In February, the brand signed a multi-year partnership with Kisner.

Chicken Cock pledged to partner with Kisner through “all of his outdoor pursuits, whether it be during the golf season, or hunting and fishing in the off-season.”

Bottles of the limited-release are available for purchase exclusively via the brand’s website.
