Pinhook Adds Cask Strength Bourbon to Core Collection
On Wednesday, Pinhook Bourbon announced the release of a new expression — Pinhook Cask Strength Straight Bourbon. The bourbon joins Pinhook’s flagship bourbon and rye whiskeys in the brand’s core lineup.
Pinhook Cask Strength is distilled and aged for five years at Castle & Key Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky.
“Five years of age imparts a multi-layered tasting experience that is further intensified at a cask strength–an offer particularly intriguing to whiskey enthusiasts,” Pinhook Bourbon co-founder and Master Blender Sean Josephs said in a news release. “Even at a proof of 118.2, this liquid proves to be remarkably balanced.”
The first Pinhook Cask Strength Bourbon vintage is blended from 120 barrels and bottled 118.2 proof. It has a mashbill of 65% corn, 30% malted barley and 5% rye.
Each Pinhook whiskey is named for a thoroughbred horse in Pinhook’s stables. This bottle displays the name Bourbon Breeze.
Pinhook Cask Strength Bourbon is available on the Pinhook website for $64.99.
Pinhook is known for its excellent Vertical Series of bourbon and rye whiskeys, in which it releases whiskeys blended from the same batch of barrels each year, and each year the whiskeys gain a year on their age statements.
In October, Pinhook debuted the 8-year-old edition of its Vertical Series Bourbon, which was followed in March by the 8-year-old rye.
