Game days just got more interesting. The Philadelphia Eagles now have their very own bourbon and vodka — under the name of a new brand named Bird Gang — thanks to a partnership with BOTLD and WeHolden, the NFL team announced Wednesday. The spirits are locally made and sold in the Philadelphia area.
The brand, called Bird Gang Spirits, rolled out the inaugural expressions, which are labeled in kelly green as a nod to the team’s colors. Bird Gang’s vodka is priced at $28 and the brand’s whiskey at $38 per 750-milliliter bottle. The spirits can be purchased from BOTLD’s Center City Philadelphia shop at 119 South 18th Street and online at BOTLD.com for in-state delivery.
“The launch of Bird Gang Spirits commemorates a special chapter in Eagles history and creates another unique touchpoint for fans to celebrate the return of Kelly Green,” Brian Napoli, senior vice president of corporate partnerships, Philadelphia Eagles, said in a news release. “We are proud to be working with a local distillery like BOTLD that specializes in handcrafted premium spirits and blends. Their expertise and commitment to their craft have created a quality product for Eagles fans everywhere to enjoy.”
Bird Gang Bourbon is bottled at 82 proof and according to the brand hosts “rich and robust notes of corn, rye and a hint of malted barley.”
The 80-proof vodka is distilled from corn and is described by the brand as possessing a “smooth, clean, slightly sweet taste with subtle notes of corn and pepper.”
The Eagles and BOTLD will host a fan pop-up event to purchase Bird Gang Spirits this Firday in Lincoln Financial Field’s Lot K from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The team plans to release more spirits in conjunction with BOTLD, a spirits brand that bottles and sells spirits from micro-brands that have yet to get into the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board’s inventory. BOTLD was founded by Andrew Auwerda.
Bird Gang’s spirits are distilled by an undisclosed Pennsylvania-based company prior to being blended, proofed and filtered by BOTLD.
Auwerda expressed his enthusiasm for the budding venture with the Eagles.
“We think of it as a whole lifestyle brand,” Auwerda said. “It’s about the community of Eagle’s fans, the diehards, the tailgaters, the people who have been through thick and thin with the Eagles and are super loyal. We’re going to have some fun with it.”
