On Tuesday, Old Forester released its first-ever Bottled in Bond Rye, the latest addition to its 117 Series. The limited-edition whiskey is available as of Tuesday at the Old Forester Distillery retail shop and select Kentucky retailers.
This small-batch rye was distilled in the spring of 2015 and bottled at 100 proof, in accordance with the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, which requires spirits to be from a single distillation season and bottled at a specific proof.
“This 117 Series release is unique because it holds a tie to our 1897 Bottled in Bond, our tribute to the Bottled in Bond Act,” Old Forester Assistant Master Distiller Caleb Trigo said in a news release. “This release is a first for Old Forester, and stays true to our historical promise of quality, consistency and balance.”
The 117 Series launched in 2021 as a way for Old Forester to showcase limited-edition expressions. The Bottled in Bond Rye retails for $64.99 per 375-milliliter bottle and is available online for shipping to select states, including Kentucky, Washington D.C., Nebraska, New Hampshire and North Dakota.
Tasting notes for the whiskey include aromas of honeysuckle and candied lemon, a bold spice-forward palate with oak and black pepper, and a dry finish with citrus and coriander.
Founded in 1870, Old Forester is Brown-Forman’s flagship bourbon brand, known for its adherence to traditional whiskey-making methods. More information is available at OldForester.com.
