On Tuesday, Old Forester announced that its Statesman Bourbon Whiskey is set to make an appearance in the upcoming movie, “Argylle.” The spy flick is set to debut Feb. 2 in theaters across the U.S.

In the movie, Old Forester is featured in a twist on the popular whiskey sour cocktail called the “Whisker Sour.” The cocktail is crafted with Old Forester Statesman Bourbon Whiskey, lemonade, Cointreau, Angostura bitters and club soda. The cocktail is a liquid homage to a furry feline featured in the movie, Alfie.

“Movie fans can enjoy the Whisker Sour, along with other Old Forester cocktails, at movie theater bars around the country during the Argylle theatrical run,” Old Forester Master Taster Melissa Rift said in a statement.

Per Old Forester, the Whisker Sour is presented in a bespoke rocks glass handcrafted by the Portuguese crystal maker Vista Alegre in the movie. Cinephiles who are interested in picking up a glass of their own can purchase one at Old Forester Distillery on Main Street in downtown Louisville.

“Argylle” is about a reclusive author whose spy espionage novels begin to unfold in real-time, oddly mirroring a covert spy organization.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, “Argylle” stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Henry Cavill. Dua Lipa, John Cena, Ariana DeBose, Catherine O’Hara, Samuel L. Jackson and Sofia Boutella also appear in the film. Dua Lipa appeared in “Barbie” in 2023.

On Jan. 17, Old Forester released the fifth installment in its Whiskey Row series: 1924. At 10 years old, it is the highest age statement whiskey in the brand’s Whiskey Row series. The whiskey features a mashbill completely new to the Old Forester Brand, which is 79% corn, 11% rye and 10% malted barley. Old Forester whiskeys typically host a higher percentage of rye — 18% — and a lower percentage of corn — 72%.

According to Rift, the whiskey “allows whiskey lovers to taste just how dynamic our brand can be while staying rooted in our rich history.”
