Old Forester Announces Highly Coveted 2023 Birthday Bourbon Release — Here’s How You Can Enter for a Chance to Buy a Bottle

Birthday Bourbon

Old Forester 2023 Birthday Bourbon is here.

On Monday, Louisville, Kentucky-based whiskey producer Old Forester announced the 2023 release of its renowned Birthday Bourbon.

Old Forester Birthday Bourbon is a rare, highly sought-after whiskey released in limited quantities each year to celebrate Old Forester founder George Garvin Brown’s birthday.

“Every year, Birthday Bourbon is a unique opportunity for lovers of Old Forester to taste a snapshot of the bourbon that was being laid down over a decade ago,” Old Forester Master Taster Melissa Rift said in a news release. “This year’s 12-year-old offering is serving up a classic Old Forester profile that has spent that time developing rich caramelized and oaky characteristics. This year, I am honored to raise a glass to yet another year of George Garvin Brown’s ongoing legacy and celebrate all there is to love about this special offering with friends, family and fans of the brand.”

Birthday Bourbon is Old Forester’s rarest and most coveted bourbon. Traditionally, Old Forester has made Birthday Bourbon available at the distillery on Sept. 2. Last year, for the first time, Old Forester did away with that tradition, instead making the expression available beyond Kentucky for the first time.

Old Forester will repeat that choice this year, making Birthday Bourbon available at the Old Forester Distillery in Louisville via a national sweepstakes running Aug. 24 through Aug. 31 — but not available Sept. 2.

Those who win the sweepstakes will earn the right to buy a bottle at its suggested retail price — $169.99, a $20 increase from last year. Sweepstakes winners will be chosen on Sept. 2, and bottles will be available for pickup between Sept. 8 and Dec. 23, giving out-of-town winners plenty of time to plan a trip to Kentucky.

Old Forester 2023 Birthday Bourbon carries a 12-year age statement. Bottled at 96 proof, 103 barrels of 2023 Birthday Bourbon were filled May 5, 2011, and aged on the fifth floor of Old Forester’s Warehouse I.
