Old Forester announced Wednesday that it has released a new batch of its limited-edition 1910 Extra Extra Old bourbon, a double-barreled whiskey aged an additional 24 months in a heavily charred secondary oak barrel.

This year’s release is part of the brand’s 117 Series and follows the product’s original debut in spring 2021. The expression builds on Old Forester’s standard 1910 bourbon, which is also double-oaked but for a shorter period of time.

“This bourbon exemplifies our innovative spirit at Old Forester by taking something great and making it even better,” Old Forester Assistant Master Distiller Caleb Trigo said in a news release. “The additional maturation leveraged to produce this release unlocks incredibly robust and distinctive flavor.”

The 1910 series is named for a fire that struck Old Forester’s distillery on October 22, 1910. At the time, a batch of bourbon that was ready for bottling had to be stored again in new barrels after the fire damaged the bottling line. That re-barreling process is now replicated in the 1910 expressions.

The 2025 release of Extra Extra Old continues this tradition with an extended maturation that the company says results in a bolder oak influence and richer flavor.

Old Forester 1910 Extra Extra Old is bottled at 93 proof and retails for $64.99. It will be sold in limited quantities starting Wednesday at the Old Forester Distillery and select Kentucky retailers. It is also available through the brand’s online store — shop.oldforester.com — for customers in D.C., Kentucky, Nebraska, New Hampshire and North Dakota.

Our Tasting Notes

We had the chance to taste Old Forester’s 2025 Extra Extra old. We enjoyed it quite a bit, finding it to be deep, sweet and fragrant on the nose. On the palate, it has a delectable, sweet flavor profile built around an oaky spine, with tasting notes including cornbread, cherry, banana peel and gingerbread.
