Old Forester Just Dropped a Limited-Edition Bourbon Finished in Scotch Casks

Old Forester

The latest release in Old Forester’s 117 series is finished in Speyside scotch whisky casks.

On Tuesday, Louisville, Kentucky distillery Old Forester announced the latest whiskey in its 117 series: Scotch Cask Finish, which the brand says honors founder George Garvin Brown’s Scottish heritage.

This 93-proof bourbon is finished in ex-sherry and ex-wine casks used to age scotch, sourced from the Speyside region of Scotland.

“This release is special to the family history our brand was built on,” Old Forester Master Taster Melissa Rift said in a news release. “We‘ve been creating top-quality, rare and innovative expressions for 150 years, and this scotch whiskey [finished bourbon] captures our founder’s spirit in another rich and smooth liquid, which I recommend serving neat.”

Old Forester 117 Series: Scotch Cask Finish released Tuesday at Old FOrester’s retail shop and select Kentucky stores with a suggested retail price of $59.99.

Old Forester debuted the 117 Series in Spring 2021. The most recent release in the series prior to this one, Bottled in Bond, dropped in July.
