On Tuesday, New Riff Distilling announced the release of its oldest bourbon yet: New Riff 8-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

Distilled from a mashbill of 65% corn, 30% rye and 5% malted barley and bottled at 100 proof, New Riff 8-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey will join New Riff’s core lineup beginning 11 a.m. EST Friday, when it will be made available for online ordering. The new expression will release through New Riff’s national distribution network in the coming weeks.

“As much acclaim as we have received from the bourbon community for our 4-year-old, bottled-in-bond and single barrel offerings, we knew the real excitement would come from genuinely older whiskey,” New Riff Distilling co-founder Jay Erisman said in a news release. “And here it is — the beginning of the future and the next wave of New Riff.”

New Riff is known for labeling its whiskeys Bottled-in-Bond, a signifier that a spirit has been produced at a single distillery during a single distilling season, aged for at least four years in oak barrels in a federaly bonded warehouse and bottled at 100 proof under the supervision of the federal government.

This release, however, is not labeled Bottled-in-Bond, because it doesn’t meet the “during a single distilling season” stipulation, according to New Riff, which says the 8-year bourbon is a blend of bourbons from two distilling seasons.

“New Riff remains entirely committed to producing bottled-in-bond whiskey,” Erisman said. “Ongoing production and future releases at younger ages will absolutely continue with our groundbreaking paradigm of Bottled-In-Bond Without Chill Filtration.”

New Riff 8-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey has a suggested retail price of $67.99 and is available here for presale ordering. Presale orders will be able to be picked up at the distillery gift shop Friday.
