Michter’s announced on Tuesday that the brand will release the 2024 edition of its coveted 10 Year Old Single Barrel Bourbon in April. The whiskey from the Louisville-based distillery hosts a suggested retail price of $185 per 750-milliliter bottle.
The limited-release whiskey has an ABV of 47.2%, according to the brand. Michter’s claims the expression has big and bold dark toffee flavors with notes of maple syrup, caramel and vanilla.
The brand claims that Michter’s Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson put great consideration into choosing the fire-charred new American white oak barrels for this year’s release.
‘We know that Michter’s fans everywhere look forward to our 10 Year Bourbon,” Wilson said in a news release. “We are excited to share the 2024 release, which again is overaged to a beautiful maturity with an excellent nose, creamy texture and an array of characteristics on the palate, that ascend through the finish, making every drop an enjoyable moment.”
This is the second Michter’s release since the historyic moment in November when Michter’s became the first American brand to be crowned “The World’s Most Admired Whiskey” by Drinks International.
“Our production team has always given tremendous consideration to what they feel is ready to release, but after this honor, the stakes seem even higher,” Michter’s President Joseph J. Magliocco said in a news release.
In February, Michter’s shared the news that it brought back a whiskey that hadn’t hit shelves since 2022: Michter’s Barrel Strength Rye.
The brands says the rye whiskey entered the barrel at 103 proof, which is significantly lower than the maximum allowed entry proof of 125.
Michter’s claims that although this is an expensive choice, it’s worth the cost and imbues the finished product with richness and complexity.
