American comedian and actor Jim Gaffigan announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that after several years of being a beer guy, bourbon is now his favorite tipple.

The comedian known for his self-deprecating sense of humor said he couldn’t believe he was admitting the fact that he liked bourbon and wasn’t sure if it meant he was an old man or just an alcoholic.

“Now, I like bourbon. ‘Like’ is how far you can go with your enthusiasm for any alcohol,” Gaffigan said in the video. “If you’re too passionate, you sound like you have a problem.”

The comedian said he figured that was the reason why some bourbon fans referred to themselves as “aficionados” of booze instead of “lovers.”

“When someone says ‘I’m a bourbon aficionado,’ it probably means they drink too much bourbon.”

Gaffigan went on to joke that he enjoys a glass of bourbon with his wife every night, and that it allows them to “reconnect” and “try to forget [they] have children.”

The comedian then went on to admit after doing a show in Louisville he almost purchased a bottle of bourbon that cost $1,100 but ended up declining, because he needed to pay for his children’s college tuition.

“Nobody needs a $1,100 bottle of bourbon,” the comedian quipped.

Jim Gaffigan is currently working on his “Barely Alive Tour,” which is going throughout the U.S. The American comic is considered a “clean” comic because he doesn’t use a lot of profanity in his sets.

Gaffigan has additionally appeared in movies, like Pixar’s “Luca” and the 2001 crime comedy, “Super Troopers.”

The comedian closed the hilarious video segment toasting his love of America’s native spirit by referring to himself as “a bourbon aficionado.”
