On Tuesday, Garrison Brothers Distillery announced that it will release the 2025 edition of its Laguna Madre Texas Straight Bourbon on Sept. 6. The limited-edition bourbon, aged eight years and finished in rare French oak barrels, is considered the crown jewel in the Texas distillery’s arsenal, and arguably its most sought-after release.
Only 3,000 bottles of the 2025 Laguna Madre will be available. The first 1,000 will go on sale at the distillery during the release event, with gates opening at 8 a.m. The remaining 2,000 bottles will be distributed to select retail and bar partners and made available online beginning Sept. 12.
The whiskey is aged four years in white American oak barrels before spending another four years in French Limousin oak casks. Known for their high vanilla and lignin content, these barrels are sourced from forests in central France. The trees can only be harvested when they are at least 120 years old. Garrison Brothers bottles the whiskey at 101 proof.
According to the distillery, the 2025 expression features a cherry mahogany color and tasting notes of vanilla bean, hazelnut, saltwater taffy and milk chocolate.
“As the oldest baby in the Garrison Brothers portfolio, it’s an absolute delight to share Laguna Madre again this year. Its toasted caramel and spiced notes on the palette remind me how thankful we are for the incredibly rare casks used and our relentless and magical Texas heat,” Master Distiller Donnis Todd said in a news release.
Each bottle comes in a wooden display box with a photo of the Texas Gulf Coast and printed information about FlatsWorthy, a Texas-based nonprofit organization focused on coastal conservation. Proceeds from the release support the group’s public awareness and habitat restoration efforts. Todd and his son are personally involved with the group.
Laguna Madre debuted in 2020 during the pandemic, with early proceeds benefiting Team Rubicon and hospitality workers affected by COVID-19. Since then, the whiskey has received numerous accolades, including Gold at the 2025 Ascot Awards and 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and Double Gold at the 2024 TAG Global Spirits Awards.
The suggested retail price for the 2025 edition is $349.99. Bottles will be available at select bars, restaurants and retailers beginning mid-September.
