Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch

On Wednesday, Four Roses unveiled the 2024 release of its rare and critically acclaimed annual Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon.

Set to drop Sept. 14, this year’s release will be the 17th in Four Roses’ line of annual limited bottlings.

“Each year, we strive to bring a new and exciting experience to your glass by blending variations of our distinct recipes to create something you’ve never tasted before from Four Roses,” Four Roses Master Distiller Brent Elliott said in a news release. “This year, the recipes we hand-selected have created something truly vibrant, bright and unique, while still maintaining a nice delicate spice at the end.”

Bottled at 108.2 proof, Four Roses 2024 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon is a blend of four batches aged between 12 and 20 years.

This year’s blend is composed of the following four components:

  • 12-year-old OBSV
  • 15-year-old OESK
  • 16-year-old OESF
  • 20-year-old OBSV

Four Roses makes 10 bourbon recipes, signified by different four-letter code names. The first letter is always “O,” which signifies it was made at Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The second letter is either “B” or “E” and signals which mashbill was used (“B” is 60% corn, 35% rye and 5% malted barley, and “E” is 75% corn, 20% rye and 5% malted barley).

The third letter is always “S.” This stands for straight distillation. The fourth and final letter indicates which yeast strain Four Roses used: K, Q, O, F or V.

Four Roses will distribute about 16,000 750-milliliter bottles of Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch 2024 in the U.S. at a suggested retail price of $220, according to the brand. Bottles will be available at the Four Roses Distillery Visitor Center in Lawrenceburg or the Visitor Center at Four Roses Warehouse & Bottling Facility in Cox’s Creek, Kentucky starting Sept. 14.

The limited bottling will also release at select retailers across the U.S. starting in September.
