Heaven Hill Rolls Out First Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon of The Year

Heaven Hill recently rolled out the first Elijah Craig Barrel Proof expression of 2024 from the brand’s wildly popular bourbon series. Here’s what we know about the first expression of the year, A124.

First, an explanation of the name: “A” represents the first batch as all the batches are listed in alphabetical order. The number “1” chronicles the month in which it is released, and the last two numbers represent the year.

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof A124 is bottled at 119 proof. The bourbon hosts an age statement of 10 years and 9 months and has a suggested retail price of $74.99 a bottle.

2023 was an amazing year for the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Series.

The brand unveiled its first release of the year in January, which received an score of 8 at Whiskey Raiders. A total knockout which clocked in at 125.6 proof, this bourbon beauty had loads of cherry cola, sweet tea and tobacco aromas.

Heaven Hill’s third and final expression of the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof series was also a stunner. The whiskey, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof C923, was bottled at 133 proof and achieved the No. 3 spot on The 10 Best Bourbons We Tasted in 2023, Ranked.

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof C923 was the brand’s oldest whiskey yet, with an age statement of 13 years and seven months. The whiskey made waves upon its release, and you can view our first impressions in the video below:

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof A124 Tasting Notes, Via the Brand

Nose: Caramel, toasted oak, tree fruit and citrus.

Taste: More caramel, butterscotch, coupled with black pepper and spice.

Finish: Layered, with a lingering finish.
