Chicken Cock Seeks to Restore the Meaning to the Term ‘Small Batch’ With New Bourbon Line

On Monday, Chicken Cock Whiskey announced a new addition to its portfolio: a line of small-batch bourbons.

The line will be an ongoing series of batches of bourbon. Each batch will be one of a kind and available until selling out, at which point it will be replaced with the next batch. All batches will be Bottled in Bond at 100 proof but will vary in other areas, such as maturation timeline and barrel aging location, according to the brand.

Chicken Cock says its master distiller, Gregg Snyder, will select fewer than 10 barrels for each batch and will select from “some of the finest barrels in the brand’s inventory.”

Chicken Cock Small Batch Bourbon Batch 1 is available now at a suggested retail price of $69.99. It’s a blend of six barrels of 5-year-old bourbon pulled from the second and fifth floors of Chicken Cock’s rickhouse in Bardstown, Kentucky.

Batch 1 can be purchased from online retailers such as Caskers, Flaviar, Total Wine and ReserveBar or in stores wherever Chicken Cock Whiskey’s core products are sold.

“Somewhere between the 1990’s and now, small batch whiskeys have lost their ‘smallness,’” Snyder said in a news release. “We wanted to create a line of bourbons that are truly special, with offerings that are worth collecting and savoring. Our true small batch bourbon equals Big Flavor!”
