Chicago Bears Get Their Own Bourbon to Commemorate 40th Anniversary of Super Bowl Win
On Wednesday, Blue Run Spirits announced the release of a limited-edition bourbon to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Chicago Bears’ 1985 championship season.
The commemorative bottle was created in partnership with the Chicago Bears and features a custom viceroy butterfly medallion and label design inspired by the team’s “Monsters of the Midway” legacy. The packaging identifies Blue Run as “The Official Bourbon of the Chicago Bears.”
“Few teams in sports history have left as lasting a legacy as the 1985 Chicago Bears,” Blue Run Spirits General Manager Katy McBrady said in a news release. “We are honored to collaborate with the Bears organization to celebrate this milestone anniversary with fans in the heart of Bears Country. This limited-edition release not only raises a glass to the historic season but also honors the tradition and spirit of the Bears’ remarkable franchise.”
Bottled at 111 proof, the limited-edition bourbon has a suggested retail price of $89.99. Blue Run describes the whiskey as having praline and orange peel aromas, a palate of brown sugar, nuttiness, and stone fruit, and a long finish with herbal white tea, peach, and clove.
The release coincides with the Bears’ year-long celebration of their 1985 title. The commemorative bottle will be available in October through Illinois retailers including Binny’s Beverage Depot, Jewel-Osco, Costco, and online via Seelbach’s.
Blue Run’s bourbon and rye portfolio is led by Head of Whiskey Development and Innovation Shaylyn Gammon. The brand, founded in Georgetown, Kentucky, has received honors from the ASCOT Awards, TAG Global Spirits Awards, and the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
