You did a good thing, Blanton’s Bourbon fans. Buffalo Trace announced on Wednesday that the distillery raised $1 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in two weeks after Sazerac announced its inaugural Blanton’s Gold Barrel sweepstakes in early February.

The winner of the sweepstakes was set to receive a VIP tour of the Buffalo Trace Distillery with up to seven guests, a private barrel selection experience, a $20,000 prize to be used for the winner to purchase bottles from the barrel they pick, a private lunch at the distillery and the emptied barrel.

One of the most sought-after bourbon brands in the U.S., Blanton’s has a great deal of caché, which was made even clearer by the fact that Buffalo Trace was able to raise $1 million in two weeks with the sweepstakes.

About the Ever Popular Blanton’s Gold

Blanton’s Bourbon is beloved by many, and the Gold Edition is even more popular than the original Blanton’s. People just can’t get enough of those round Blanton’s bottles topped by the adorable horse figurines.

Bottles of Blanton’s Bourbon and Blanton’s Gold feature metal figurines of jockeys riding a horse with letters that spell out the name of the Blanton’s brand, sending collectors clamoring for all eight letters.

Blanton’s Gold was the second version created after the original Blanton’s Bourbon and has the same high-rye mashbill as the original Blanton’s. What makes Blanton’s Gold so special is that this very limited expression hosts a proof of 103, which is higher than Blanton’s 93 proof. According to Wine-Searcher, the average price for a bottle of Blanton’s Gold in the U.S. is $338.

Buffalo Trace describes Blanton’s Gold as possessing aromas of spicy rye and tobacco. The palate has a rye-imbued aroma, with tobacco and honey. The finish lingers, with oak and vanilla.
