Bardstown Bourbon Company Completes ‘Most Significant’ Expansion Ever

On Thursday, Bardstown Bourbon Company announced the completion of what it calls its “most significant expansion to date” following 10 years of construction on 100 acres of farmland.

According to Bardstown Bourbon Co., the expansion pushed its capacity to more than 18 million proof gallons while “focusing on conserving natural resources.”

Following the expansion, Bardstown Bourbon Co. is a 400-acre property with two complete distilleries, which host three column stills, 48 fermentation tanks, a “state-of-the-art” bottling and logistics facility and warehouses capable of holding nearly 2 million barrels.

Beyond its own line of whiskeys, Bardstown Bourbon Co. says its space now allows for it to support more than 300 distillation and bottling partners.

“Bardstown Bourbon Co. revolutionized the bourbon industry when we started operations in 2016 and we haven’t stopped growing since,” CEO Mark Erwin said in a news release. “This most recent expansion is the latest proof point in our commitment to deliver the highest quality, most consistent whiskey available to custom distilling customers in Kentucky. We have the track record, the team and the ability to continue investing in our business to provide the best customer experience available anywhere.”

Since its formation, Bardstown Bourbon Co. has increased its production capability more than tenfold, from 25,000 barrels a year to 289,000.

Bardstown Bourbon Company says it prioritized sustainability with its expansion, introducing initiatives to reduce water and energy. The company said that despite nearly doubling its capacity since 2018, Bardstown Bourbon Co. today uses 30% less energy than it did six years ago.

Bardstown Bourbon Company says that over the next three years, it will implement additional energy and resource conserving initiatives.
