NBA Star Bam Adebayo Teams Up With Maker’s Mark to Release a Bourbon in Honor of His Mom

Maker’s Mark announced on Nov. 21 that the bourbon brand was joining forces with Miami Heat Center Bam Adebayo to release a bourbon honoring the basketball star’s mom. The blend is called “Bam & Marilyn’s 1 of 1,” and it is available at specialized retailers in Miami for a suggested price of $69.99.

Adebayo visited Maker’s Mark with his mom, Marilyn Blount, and partook in Maker’s Private Selection Program. Adebayo purchased a barrel and came up with a whiskey that epitomized his and his mother’s flavor specifications.

The bourbon clocks in at 112 proof, and Maker’s Mark shares it has aromas of vanilla, toasted coconut, clove, honeysuckle and baking spices.

“It was a pleasure to host Bam and Marilyn at the Maker’s Mark homeplace this summer — to share what makes our brand so special and to bring their taste vision of Maker’s Mark to life through the Private Selection program,” Maker’s Mark eighth-generation whiskey maker and Managing Director Rob Samuels said in a statement. “This partnership is a fantastic opportunity to combine our passion for exceptional bourbon with a deep commitment to supporting visionaries who create a positive impact in communities around the country.”

In February, Maker’s Mark helped another famous athlete release a blended bourbon. The brand teamed up with National Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. and his brother, infielder Bill Ripken, to release their own private selection. Just 248 bottles were available for purchase, and each bottle was autographed by the brothers.

Maker’s Mark launched Adebayo and Blount’s release on Nov. 20 in Miami. The brand hosted a dinner, with a reception featuring Bam & Marilyn’s 1 of 1 in cocktails.

“My mom is my inspiration on and off the court, and it was a great experience to create our own custom blend of Maker’s Mark,” Adebayo expressed. “Bam & Marilyn’s 1 of 1 celebrates what my mom and I both love best about the iconic Kentucky bourbon.”
