Angel’s Envy’s 13th Annual Cask Strength Bourbon Has a Twist

Angel’s Envy, the popular Louisville, Kentucky whiskey brand, is back with a fresh batch of its beloved cask-strength bourbon — and this time around, it has a twist.
2024’s Cask Strength Bourbon marks the 13th annual release in the line, and this edition incorporates a tawny port wine finish blended in alongside Angel’s Envy’s traditional ruby port wine finish.
“I’m excited to continue evolving what fans can expect from the ANGEL’S ENVY Cask Strength Program in new yet familiar ways,” Angel’s Envy Master Distiller Owen Martin said in a news release. “This year’s Cask Strength Bourbon not only honors the familiar flavors our fans love but also adds another layer of complexity with the Tawny finish. It’s a great example of our vision for innovation, staying true to our roots while striving to provide a fresh perspective on our cherished whiskeys and American Whiskey overall.”
According to Angel’s Envy, this year’s cask-strength release is the first in which the brand implemented a solera process, which creates a continuous aging and blending process. We have to wonder if this idea came from Martin, who employed the solera process at Stranahan’s in Denver, Colorado, prior to joining Angel’s Envy in 2022.
Bottled at 118.8 proof, this year’s batch of Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Port Wine Barrels has a suggested retail price of $229.99. Angel’s Envy will make 23,196 bottles available in the U.S. and via Angel’s Envy’s website.
Angel’s Envy will also sell its 2024 Cask Strength Bourbon at its distillery in downtown Louisville starting at 9 a.m. ET Nov. 21. Martin will be on-site to sign bottles, according to the brand.
Angel’s Envy describes the bottle as having “a sophisticated design with embossed wings, gold foil labels, and an engraved cork metal medallion.”
Last year, Angel’s Envy for the first time debuted a Cask Strength Rye alongside the bourbon. Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Rye achieved an impressive Raided Score® of 92 in its debut. Click here to see how it was reviewed by experts.
