On Wednesday, 2XO Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, the brand helmed by whiskey blender Dixon Dedman, announced it would be unveiling a highly personal limited offering called “The Sneakerhead Blend.”

The Sneakerhead Blend hosts a suggested retail price of $99.99 and features two mashbills: a high rye 35% bourbon mashbill and a moderate rye 18% bourbon mashbill. The bourbons rested in new charred oak barrels toasted to a #3 and #4 char, and rested for nine to twelve months. 2XO shared that its high rye mashbill consists of the majority of the blend, and 60% of the whiskey features the double-barreled spirit.

“The sneakerhead blend is a tribute to my passion for sneaker culture and the collectibles that speak to individuality and personal style,” Dedman explained in a news release. “I enjoy not only collecting but engaging with other passionate sneakerheads.”

Dedman is no stranger to unveiling highly personal releases often inspired by his own lived-in experiences.

In April, Dixon Dedman released 2XO The Kiawah Blend. The blended whiskey is a liquid celebration of Dedman’s favorite vacation spot. Dedman shared that Kiawah Island is his “happy place,” and he often vacations with his family at the island that sits 25 miles southwest of Charleston, South Carolina.

As for 2XO’s latest release, the bourbon brand shared that The Sneakerhead Blend possesses a “viscous and rich” mouthfeel, coupled with aromas of cinnamon, cedar and allspice. The whiskey has cedar aromas on the pour as well and they segue into a lingering smooth finish with a kick of pepper.

Dedman’s claim to fame before the 2XO brand stems from his tenure at Kentucky Owl. 2XO shares he was known for blending powerful, high-proof bourbons for the brand he resurrected himself.

Eventually Kentucky Owl was sold to the Stoli Group in 2017, according to Whisky Advocate, and Dedman struck out on his own and created his 2XO brand.
