Reviewing the Oldest Eagle Rare Bourbon Yet | 2023 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection

In the latest video on the Whiskey Raiders YouTube channel, spirits critic Jay West, aka t8ke, tastes and gives his initial reactions to this year’s Eagle Rare 17 Year Old Bourbon, a member of 2023 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection.

When this year’s BTAC lineup was unveiled, this was the highlight that immediately jumped out to many whiskey fans. Why? Despite the name’s inclusion of “17 Year Old” this whiskey is actually the oldest BTAC Eagle Rare we’ve ever seen, with the youngest component of the blend being 19 years and 3 months old.

Buffalo Trace presumably decided to retain the Eagle Rare 17 Year Old Bourbon name to stick with tradition, even though they could have called it Eagle Rare 19 Year Old Bourbon.

Watch the video to hear Jay’s thoughts on this unexpectedly old bourbon and see what he thinks upon first taste.
