2022 Edition of King of Kentucky Announced, and for the 1st Time, the Release Comprises Multiple Bourbons

King of Kentucky

King of Kentucky fifth edition has arrived.

Brown-Forman on Monday announced the release of the fifth annual edition of its coveted King of Kentucky bourbon. For the first time, the launch comprises two expressions rather than one. The new bourbons will launch in August to celebrate the brand’s fifth anniversary.

The first release is a 15-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon. The launch will comprise about 3,500 bottles, which will sell for a suggested retail price of $249.99. The majority of the 3,500 bottles will be sold in Kentucky, but the expression will also be available in limited quantities in Illinois and Ohio.

The second expression, on the other hand, will be much more limited and exclusive to Kentucky. Only 250 bottles of the 18-year old Kentucky straight bourbon will be produced, selling for a suggested retail price of $349.99.

“This year’s releases come from two production days, two years apart,” Master Distiller Chris Morris said in a news release. “This showcases what a difference two years at these extreme ages make on the color, flavor, and aroma of this wonderful whiskey.”

King of Kentucky was established in 1881. Brown-Forman acquired the brand in 1936 and converted it to a blended whiskey until it was discontinued in 1968. In 2018, Brown-Forman revived the brand.
