WhistlePig Whiskey announced Wednesday that it’s launching a limited-edition wheat whiskey aimed in custom casket-shapeds cask, cut to proof with Liquid Death Mountain Water, marking a summer release aimed at whiskey drinkers looking for something different from typical seasonal offerings.

WhistlePig’s GraveStock Wheat Whiskey is a high-wheat whiskey aged in charred American oak and bottled at 86 proof. The whiskey is being positioned as an alternative to summer staples like hard seltzer and spritzes.

The release, available starting June 24, comes in 750-milliliter bottles and carries a suggested retail price of $74.99. It will be sold online and at select liquor stores, bars and restaurants across the U.S.

The product is finished in large, custom-built, coffin-shaped oak vessels, or foeders—a novel step even by craft whiskey standards.

“The custom casket-shaped foeders where GraveStock Wheat Whiskey finds its final resting place are the first of their kind, and a bucket list experiment we – literally – went big on,” WhistlePig Head Blender Meghan Ireland said in a news release. “They add character in a subtle way that lets the nuance of the wheat whiskey shine. Wheat’s softness and easy style is rounded out with bright notes of honeysuckle, biscotti and butterscotch.”

The whiskey is proofed using still water sourced by Liquid Death, a brand known for its canned sparkling water and irreverent branding.

“Many bottled water brands are just processed municipal tap water, but our Liquid Death Mountain Water comes from real American mountain ranges that produce some of the best water in the world,” said Greg Fass, VP of marketing at Liquid Death. “Proofing an already delicious WhistlePig whiskey with our premium mountain-sourced water is the type of attention to detail that should take this bottle to the next level.”

The two brands are also promoting cocktail recipes dubbed “DeathBalls,” which pair the whiskey with various Liquid Death sparkling water flavors, such as Severed Lime and Dead Billionaire tea.

GraveStock Wheat Whiskey is a limited release. Once it sells out, it will not be restocked.
