Colorado-based distillery Stranahan’s is sure to generate plenty of buzz with the latest whiskey in its Distiller’s Experimental Series, titled Cold Brew Cut. The whiskey brand announced Friday that Cold Brew Cut is Stranahan’s own American Single Malt cut with cold brew coffee from a local roaster, Copper Door Coffee.

The distillery’s American Single malt was aged for six years and two months in Virgin Oak barrels with a char #3 toast. After the spirit rested, it was cut to 94 proof using cold brew coffee from Copper Door, Denver’s singular 100%-female-owned coffee roaster. The cold brew is composed of Copper Door’s “Four Sisters” Espresso beans, which were harvested from Colombia, Brazil and Guatemala.

The team at Stranahan’s describes the spirit as hosting a sweet, nutty nose with plenty of chocolate ganache and pink peppercorn on the palate. Stranahan’s Cold Brew Cut finishes with a palate loaded with sweet marzipan, according to the brand. The whiskey liqueur is available as long as supplies last and can be purchased at the cost of $45 for a 375-milliliter bottle.

This release follows Stranahan’s latest single malt release in May, which was aged in red wine casks.

About Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey

Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey is the state’s first legal whiskey distillery since Prohibition, according to the brand. The brand states everything is handcrafted in Denver, Colorado and cuts its spirits with water from the Rocky Mountains.

The distillery’s seeds were sewn after a volunteer firefighter named Jesse Graber fought a neighbor’s barn fire in 1998. The barn he attempted to save from the flames belonged to a man named George Stranahan, a brewery owner and whiskey aficionado. The two both bonded over their love of whiskey and decided to open a distillery together.

The distillery was founded in 2004 and specializes in the wildly popular category of American Single Malts.
