Seagram’s announced on Thursday that the brand’s 7 Crown American Blended Whiskey is the Official Whiskey Sponsor of the American Cornhole League.

“Seagram’s 7 Crown has the legacy of bringing people together and that’s exactly what we’re doing at the American Cornhole League,” American Cornhole League founder and Commissioner Stacey Moore said in a news release. “This partnership is bringing together two iconic game day classics – cornhole and a 7&7 – for the first time ever, and we cannot be more thrilled for what’s to come with this partnership.”

The brand will make appearances at eight tournaments for the ACL, starting with the first one in Palm Beach Florida. @Seagrams7 on Instagram will provide more information.

“Seagram’s 7 Crown will celebrate the meaningful connection that our country has with cornhole,” Seagram’s 7 Crown Senior Brand Manager Gustavo Salguero said. “Whether you’re enjoying a 7&7 or tossing a bean bag, we’re thrilled to join forces with the American Cornhole League, witnessing some incredible competition and seeing these pros become legends!”

Seagram’s 7 is described by the brand as a smooth American blended whiskey that is cocktail-friendly, and the brand recommends serving it with 7UP and a slice of lime for the classic 7&7 drink.

A spirits partnership with a game like cornhole might seem a bit out of left field, yet the spirits brand and ACL claim that cornhole is one of “America’s fastest-growing sports.” Approximately 50 million people play the game worldwide, according to the news release, and the game has fans in 25 countries around the world.

The ACL cites that Cornhole’s origins date back to the 14th century in Germany before it became popular in Kentucky over a century ago. The game is similar to horseshoes, barring the fact that beanbags are tossed into holes on an elevated wooden platform. Those playing score three points if the bag makes it into the hole, and one point if the bag lands on the platform. The game is typically played “tournament style.”
