The Columbus, Ohio-based independent distillery, Middle West Spirits, is set to add three new cask-strength whiskeys to its permanent portfolio on Oct. 1, the brand announced.
The three whiskeys are cask-strength versions of Middle West’s Straight Wheat Whiskey, Straight Wheated Bourbon Whiskey and Dark Pumpernickel Rye. Each expression will be proofed between 122.2 and 125.3.
Alongside the Cask Strength series, Middle West unveiled a new addition to its Double Cask Collection: the Napoleon Calvados Cask-Finished Whiskey. Calvados is an apple or pear brandy produced in Normandy, France.
“We’re proud to introduce our new Cask Strength Series products,” Middle West Spirits founding Lead Distiller and CEO Ryan Lang said in a news release. “This series gives us another way to showcase the unique characteristics of the work we do with our farming and barrel partners. Our work together allows our team to experiment and innovate, so the Napoleon Calvados cask-finished whiskey is one we are proud to add to our Double Cask Collection.”
Middle West’s new cask-strength whiskeys each have a suggested retail price of $69.99 per 750-milliliter bottle.
Middle West’s Napoleon Calvados Cask-Finished Whiskey is aged for four years in American white oak barrels and then finished for an additional one to two years in the calvados casks. After maturation, it’s bottled at a cask-strength proof of 123.8. This expression has a suggested retail price of $129.99 per 750-milliliter bottle and will be available at the Middle West Spirits Distillery Bottle Shop in Columbus, Ohio, at select U.S. retailers and online via speakeasy.co as of Oct. 1.
