A blend of mostly bourbon whiskeys with just a bit of rye in the blend, this whiskey spent 15 months finishing in Maison Ferrand Cognac barrels. It has a suggested retail price of $139.99 and is bottled at 111.8 proof. Here’s how the blend breaks down:

  • 73%: 9-year-old Kentucky bourbon (74% corn, 18% rye and 8% malted barley)
  • 10% 11-year-old Kentucky bourbon (78% corn, 13% rye, 8% malted barley)
  • 10% 12-year-od Kentucky bourbon (75% corn, 13% rye, 12% malted barley)
  • 7% 6-year-old rye whiskey distilled by Bardstown Bourbon Co. (95% rye, 5% malted barley)

Tasting notes, via Bardstown Bourbon Co.: “Decadent black cherry, toasted oak, vanilla cream, and rye spice lead to a palate of baked apple, pecan, and raisin. The full-bodied flavor continues through the finish, creating a balance of rich bourbon and premium cognac, with a kiss of mint.”

Bardstown Bourbon Company Double Barreled Discovery Series #13

The latest release in Bardstown Bourbon Company’s Discovery Series is a blend of four Kentucky bourbons aged between eight and 15 years. The blend is finished in Hungarian oak. It’s bottled at 110.8 proof and has a suggested retail price of $139.99. Here’s how the blend breaks down:

  • 45% 9-year-old bourbon (74% corn, 18% rye, 8% malted barley)
  • 22% 9-year-old Kentucky bourbon (78% corn, 10% rye, 12% malted barley)
  • 20% 15-year-old Kentucky bourbon (75% corn, 13% rye, 12% malted barley)
  • 13% 8-year-old Kentucky bourbon (70% corn, 21% rye, 9% malted barley)

Tasting notes, via Bardstown Bourbon Co.: “The Hungarian Oak takes the classic flavors of this blend – caramel, vanilla, and dry fruit – and layers them with complex notes of baking spice, campfire ash, clove, cinnamon, and toffee.”
