A shipment of 4547 Patriot Edition Whiskey, valued at $250,000, was hijacked at a dock in California while en route to retail partners, Wise Spirits said Monday. The thieves managed to steal the whiskey creating false shipping documents, according to the Nashville-based spirits company.

However, most of the stolen shipment has been recovered thanks to the Temple City Sheriff’s Department and the Rialto Police Department, who Wise Spirits says worked with the 4547 Whiskey team.

In acknowledgment of the unusual circumstances, each bottle now features a “hijacked” sticker with a QR code that directs consumers to the full story behind the theft and recovery.

Wise Spirits says the recovery of the shipment has brought attention to 4547 Patriot Edition Whiskey, which was released to honor Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 47th President of the United States (he was also the 45th president, hence the name).

“We are thrilled to have recovered our shipment and are excited to share this unique tale with our customers,” Wise Spirits Inc. VP Of Operations Heath Lollarsaid in a news release. “Every bottle tells a story of resilience and the American spirit. This whiskey is not just a drink; it’s a symbol of what we can accomplish together.”
