Limited Edition Grey Goose Vodka Bottle Recalled After Choking Hazard Fears

On Friday, Product Safety Australia (PSA) issued a recall for a special edition Grey Goose bottle that was sold by Dan Murphy’s and BWS between Oct. 1, 2023 and Dec, 21, 2023.
The PSA is managed by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission which works to identify and address safety hazards in consumer products. The organization identified a potential issue with the Grey Goose Limited Edition 1L Night Vision Northern Lights Edition bottle relating to its light-up feature.
The bottle showcased a glowing aurora display that was powered by a button battery found at the base of the bottle. Product Safety Australia stated the battery used to light up the bottle was not adequately secured. Ironically, the main concern is that the button battery could be accessed by young children. Hopefully, consumers were already keeping their bottles of vodka away from children.
“There is a risk of choking, severe internal burn injuries or death to young children if they gain access to the button/coin batteries and swallow or insert them. Severe or fatal injuries can happen in 2 hours or less,” stated the recall notice.
The notice continued, “Consumers may be unaware that the product contains button batteries.”
PSA urged consumers to stop using Grey Goose and it should be kept out of reach of children. The bottles should be disposed of safely or returned to the place of purchase. Consumers can also contact Grey Goose Australia directly regarding the recall. It looks as though some of the consumers won’t be getting lit with the limited edition light-up bottle any longer.
In Aug. 2023, Costco issued a recall on its Kirkland Signature American Vodka after complaints of the product tasting terrible. For years, people have thought that Costco vodka was Grey Goose but this doesn’t appear to be the case. Consumers were offered a refund since the “taste profile” may not have met customers’ expectations.
