Southwestern Distillery, known for crafting Tarquin’s Gin, has recently forayed into the vodka realm with the introduction of Connie Glaze, a craft vodka inspired by the beauty of Constantine Bay on the Wild Cornish Coast.
“I’ve always loved the balance of art and science in distilling, which makes anything possible,” explained Master Distiller Tarquin Leadbetter, according to The Spirits Business.
“Our unique and experimental vodka combines ancient techniques for water purification with modern distilling to create an extraordinarily smooth, world-class and mixable vodka.”
Priced at £30.00 (about $37) per 70-cl bottle with a 40% ABV, this small-batch creation aims to stand as a testament to the craft and care of Southwestern Distillery. What sets Connie Glaze apart is its unique filtration process. Every batch undergoes a journey through Cornish golden sand at the craft distillery. According to the brand, this process yields a pure and clean spirit “as fresh as the Atlantic breeze.”
In addition to offering a new drinking experience, Connie Glaze is committed to environmental stewardship. For every bottle sold, 1% of the sales are donated to Beach Guardian, supporting their vital efforts to keep Cornish beaches pristine.
“Through the hard work and dedication of Emily and Rob [Stevenson] from Beach Guardians, the sand used to filter our vodka is kept clean,” Leadbetter continued, according to the report. “It seems only right that we support them in return to protect our local beaches and give back to the very place that inspired us to create Connie Glaze.”
For a perfect serve, Southwestern Distillery recommends pairing Connie Glaze with soda water, fresh lime wedges and a sprig of rosemary.
