Welsh classical singer and Cygent Gin founder Katherine Jenkins OBE is set to make an in-store appearance at Marks & Spencer Culverhouse Cross, Cardiff, on March 1 from 3-5 p.m. The exclusive event celebrates the gin’s recent listing across Marks & Spencer Welsh stores and St. David’s Day.

According to a press release, Jenkins will be crafting and sharing a range of cocktails featuring her award-winning Cygnet Gin as part of the event. Shoppers will be immersed in the refined aura of Cygnet Gin, gaining insights into its botanicals and receiving guidance on crafting the perfect Cygnet Gin drink. The experience will be enhanced by the lavish ambiance created by a Welsh harpist, with support from Food & Drink Wales.

The collaboration between Marks & Spencer and Jenkins’ spirit brand underscores the supermarket’s commitment to Welsh products, with Cygnet Gin being one of 17 new Welsh offerings introduced since January 2024. The store now features 345 Welsh products, per the press release, reflecting ongoing partnerships with local suppliers.

In her pursuit to challenge the conventions of the traditionally male-dominated spirits industry, Jenkins officially unveiled Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin (£38.50) in 2023. The inspiration for the venture arose when she discovered the “lesser-known” Welsh spirit being crafted just six miles from her hometown in 2021. This flagship offering showcases a blend of juniper, coriander, cardamom, angelica root, orris root, chamomile flower, citrus, licorice and almond. Following its initial success, the label expanded its range with Cygnet 22 (£47.50). This variant incorporates manuka honey, bee pollen, lemon balm, rose petals and white peppercorns.

Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin, per the brand, boasts a lively juniper aroma and subtle florals, complemented by fresh lime and pink grapefruit notes and a velvety mouthfeel. Noteworthy accolades include Gold Signature Botanicals for Wales at the Gin Awards 2024 and Silver at The Spirits Business. Made in a collaborative effort with sixth-generation distiller Chris Sadler and designer Eric Villency to produce an award-winning sustainable bottle, Cygnet Gin is dedicated to showcasing the excellence of Welsh produce globally.
