Zyr Vodka is crafted in America using organic soft red winter wheat, rye and water sourced from the historic Sankoty Aquifer in central Illinois. The grains are sustainably grown at Janie's Farm. Zyr is distilled six times and filtered 10 times, utilizing only the hearts of the distillate. Master distiller Chris Ober oversees the process, which includes milling, cooking, fermentation and precise distillation cuts.
I appreciate Zyr’s tenacity (and love them as people) — and you have to respect a company that stands behind its product to this degree — but I think the original A- rating is fair and accurate, at least for my palate.
One of the smoothest vodkas we’ve ever had. Crisp, clean, with a round mouthfeel and a marshmallow essence. Excellent on its own, this will make a killer Kangaroo cocktail (vodka martini).
While I can’t make any claims about how ZYR mixes (though I think it’d be a good mixer), I can say that it is a good shooter. It fits well in the price range it sits.
At the end of the day, while I and my White Russian loving dude-ness is glad to have this in my bar – if I was someone who’s job wasn’t to always buy new spirits and hope for the best – I’d have better options.
One of the few vodkas that are actually worth paying over $25 for. About the money as either Stoli or the “Avian Fashion Victim Vodka,” with more depth, complexity, and sense of place.
