Yaguara Cachaça Ouro is a Brazilian cachaça created by master blender Erwin Weimann and launched alongside the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. It is a blend of fresh sugarcane distillate aged in multiple woods, including Brazilian amburana and cambreúva and American oak. Bottled at 42% ABV, a 700 ml bottle typically retails for about £34, or roughly $43.
The palate is rich with bananas, brown sugar, mango, papaya, roasted coconut and pineapple sprinkled with nutmeg. More Christmas-y flavors emerge with tart apples, Chamomile tea and a flash of alcohol heat.
It is initially fairly sweet with some green apple and a touch of sugar syrup. This gives way to a light woodiness and an almost florally infused smokiness which is very different to the harsh mass produced industrial White Cachaca I have tried previously.
