Steamboat Bourbon, a special release from Wyoming Whiskey, was bottled in the summer of 2018. Aged for five years, it is made with non-GMO grains grown in Wyoming. The straight bourbon is batched using barrels from the bottom ricks of the rickhouse. It rests at 90 proof and honors Steamboat, a legendary bronco from the early 1900s.

  • Steamboat Special Edition Straight Bourbon Whiskey reminds me a bit of an Irish Whiskey. It’s also a more subtle experience, one that requires more time and concentration.

  • The taste has a berry cobbler sweetness balanced by good black pepper and allspice notes with touches of caramel candy, vanilla, and a hint of butterscotch underneath. The finish is medium-length and fruity.

  • The mouthfeel is creamy and generous. The flavors follow a similar sentiment: sweet vanilla, nougat, and rich caramel. The lengthy finish adds some sophistication with teasing spice, light barrel char, and wisps of smoke.
