Distilled by Woodinville Whiskey Company in Washington State, this rye whiskey comes to us devoid of an age statement but bottled at respectable 45% ABV.
he finish is peppery, with caramel and chocolate flowing over pleasant oak overtones. A rye that strikes an excellent balance between fruit, sweetness, and spice.
It’s not the boldest, most assertive rye I’ve ever tasted, and perhaps there’s more oak tannin here than I might desire in a perfect world, but overall, good stuff.
The taste has spicy notes of clove, cinnamon, and cardamom balanced by dried fruits, honey, and caramel-covered apples. The finish is long with gently fading spices. Very nice.
A smooth, moderately lengthy finish starts big then mellows, offering more rye spice and menthol, leaving the mouth tingling before final notes of chocolate linger.
