  • While Woodford Reserve Batch Proof 119.5 doesn’t rank among the punchiest or most complex bourbons I’ve sampled recently, it accomplishes its task well: highlighting the brand’s distillate in a high-proof blend with both balance and lingering flavor.

  • A whiff of charred oak plays into the finish, which is otherwise fruity, spicy, and light.

  • It’s not my favorite of the bunch, but if you love banana bread, you’re going to be set here.

  • Nose:

Sweet banana bread, toffee, butterscotch and vanilla bean. Sweet, lightly fruity, easy-going and enticing on the nose with light spice.

  • Taste:

Moderate palate. At nearly 120 proof, there’s virtually zero heat. Honey, cocoa, banana bread and pecans, pepper and nutmeg. Pleasant and sweet, loads of vanilla bean.

  • Finish:

Long finish that's heavy on sweetness and vanilla, toffee and more banana bread. It’s a very fruity finish, blended with some brown sugar and pepper.

  • Overall:

Lovely and pleasant, this Batch Proof is a bit off the norm and dials up sweet and fruity character. It’s not my favorite of the bunch, but if you love banana bread, you’re going to be set here.
