  • The color is now a reddish-brown, and the palate pops with big notes of fresh berries, candied cherry, dried fig, black pepper, and a slightly tannic tinge.

  • Nose:

Lots of red wine character on the nose, which comes through a nice mix of deep and musky and light and fluffy. Cabernet is joined by cotton candy, licorice and browned butter.

  • Taste:

Pretty nicely balanced on the palate. The red wine is very prominent, but the bourbon peaks out behind it, making for a really tasty profile. Toasted marshmallow, tannic red wine, seared oak, pepper, browned butter.

  • Finish:

The finish opens a bit on the spicier side, with cinnamon segueing into oak and Cabernet character.

  • Overall:

A really nice finished bourbon. The distillate and red wine influence come together to deliver a decadent, downright delicious expression. Nicely done, Woodford! This would pair phenomenally with a steak.
