  • Wild Turkey’s oldest rye release to date has a fragrant nose that offers fresh lemon, apricot, peach cobbler, strawberries, fresh grains, and plenty of heat.

  • While it doesn’t have much competition to contend with, I’ll also say it’s the best rye whiskey that Wild Turkey has produced in the last 10 years. But you may notice my wording is tip-toeing around one obvious conclusion – that there are many other rye whiskies released this year that I found better than it.

  • It's bold, rich, balanced and powerful, absolutely loaded to the gills with rye character and shows a new side of Wild Turkey that Generations solidly missed: The distillery can release bold whiskeys, and they can be *incredible*.

  • This is an absolutely beautiful rye whiskey and really a testament to the quality of liquid that Wild Turkey is known for, but that price could make it a tough sell for some people.

  • If anything, it’s a fun diversion from the parade of bourbons that Wild Turkey has been cranking out — as delightful as those have been.

  • Nose:

All rye, it's huge and full, rounded and popping with rye spice from start to finish. There's no meekness, no mildness, no

  • Taste:

Moderate to rich mouthfeel, loaded with toffee, honey, cracked pepper, more herbal grassiness and a pop of spearmint. It's vivacious and spicy, packed with both sweet, herbal and minty rye notes. The oak is powerful yet beautiful integrated and brings the entire pour a certain richness.

  • Finish:

Long finish, rich and powerful once more. The finish lingers and carries, bringing mostly maple to grapple with the aggressive and satisfying rye character: waffle cone, ginger, cracked pepper, some honey and a pop of spearmint and grassy, herbal, spice.

  • Overall:

There's no question I've been left whelmed by recent Wild Turkey LTO's and admittedly I didn't expect a 10-year rye release from the company to be the pour that shook me from my slumber but this rye is everything the portfolio needs and a fitting release for what is hinted at one of the final Master's Keeps to come. It's bold, rich, balanced and powerful, absolutely loaded to the gills with rye character and shows a new side of Wild Turkey that Generations solidly missed: The distillery can release bold whiskeys, and they can be *incredible*.
