  • This was a really lovely surprise. The profile was not at all what I was expecting going into a Wild Turkey offering.

  • Nicely balanced, very approachable, but I would have preferred this at their signature 101 proof for added intensity.

  • Diamond Anniversary is a nice, well-rounded bourbon. But, the 91 proof of the whiskey lightened the flavor profile, which resulted in an underwhelming whiskey.

  • Although this bourbon lacks an obvious WOW factor and it’s evident you’re paying a premium in commemoration of a milestone of a great man, this is a must have bottle for every Wild Turkey fan. For everyone else, I’d recommend a pour at a bar.

  • This is pretty good as far as things go, but I think it’s underproofed and over oaked.

  • The spicy and elegant nose with an almost austere quality to it combined with the grain and wood driven palate and finish bring out some new and unique aspects to what would be an otherwise traditional Wild Turkey experience.

  • The whiskey continues to develop as it sits in your glass with notes such as menthol and cherry syrup. This is a whiskey that you want to spend time with which is a sentiment you have when you’re around the man this bourbon honors.

  • The finish is long, spicy, and smooth with softly fading pepper and clove notes along with touches of honey and oak. Excellent!

  • Nose:

Sweet corn, vanilla, cracked pepper, some ethanol. Mild clove, little bit of old leather.

  • Taste:

Thin mouthfeel, sweet vanilla, mild corn notes, some clove here. Some savory cinnamon and a good deal of oak influence. No real heat to speak of. I wish the proof was a hair higher, just for the sake of a richer mouthfeel.

  • Finish:

Medium to short, nice and sweet with a good oak backbone.

  • Overall:

This is pretty good as far as things go, but I think its underproofed and over oaked. I certainly wouldnt consider this worth the asking MSRP, but as a bourbon out on its own, I dont think its too shabby. Im going to give this a Rank 6 - its good, and definitely a notch above average, but punches no higher.
